About The Foundation

The ‘Lokmata Study Foundation’ is established on the principle of “Satyen Apadyate Amritam,” which translates to “Immortality through Truth.” This foundation aims to highlight the significant figures, particularly Indian women and events of national importance, who have either been overlooked or misrepresented during the course of documentation our nation’s history.

We conduct in-depth research based on authentic primary sources and present it impartially through various media such as print, art, drama and digital media. The foundation provides a platform for energetic, talented, and dedicated researchers committed to raising awareness about the contributions of these figures and bringing them into the nation’s mainstream.

The exemplary life and personality of Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar have been our inspiration from the very beginning. Born into a modest family, Ahilyabai became the ruler of the Holkar dynasty under extraordinary circumstances. After the untimely death of her husband and son at a young age, she took charge of the state and added new chapters of peace and prosperity to the history of the Malwa region for thirty years. The temples she built and restored are known to every Indian. Her contribution to the revival of Sanatan Dharma is unparalleled. In honor of all her virtues and achievements, this foundation has been named after Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar.

Our Work

We are at forefront of performing credible research and creating awareness regarding figures and events of national importance. Working on life and achievements of Lokmata Ahilyabai we have published two books in five languages, organized an art exhibition of handmade paintings depicting life of great queen through paintings created by budding artists. We have conducted seminars and organized discussion panels to celebrate her life. We are on our way to produce a documentary and audio books on the life of Lokmata.

The foundation has worked towards celebrating The life and achievements of Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar in past year. We are on our way to produce a documentary and audio books on the life of Lokmata Ahilyabai. We are also working on bringing translation of rare letters of Lokmata to public domain which will help people explore her administration and personality in detail. Secondly, we are taking up the task of exploring the life of another great queen of India, Rani Abakka Ullal of Chowta, The warrior Queen of India who defeated Portuguese and preserved the native culture of Karnataka (Tulu Nadu). Widely considered as first woman freedom fighter of India, we believe Rani Abakka’s story which has long been ignored deserves to be told to the people.
